Celebrating Child Safety Week
This week we have been celebrating Child Safety Week where we continue to embrace the message “Every child, in every community, needs a fair go.” This year the focus is on children feeling safe and supported so they can thrive and grow up being connected to, and supported in, their family, school community and culture. A special mention and note of thanks to Lize Privitera - our Child Safety Champion for her work and commitment to ensuring our students understand how to identify body clues and to take actions to keep themselves safe. Our Year 6 school leaders have played an important role in highlighting child safety messages to all students with their sharing of the student friendly version of our Child Safe Policy. Congratulations to our Year 6 student leaders on the way in which they have shared key child safety messages to all grade levels to ensure “Every student in our school community has a fair go.”
End of Term 3 - Footy Day celebrations
We will celebrate the end of Term 3 with our annual Footy Day celebrations on Friday 16 September. Students are encouraged to wear their favourite footy team colours (yellow and black!) Students will be participating in a range of fun footy activities and have the option to enjoy a special Footy Day sausage sizzle lunch. Payment and orders for the special Footy Day lunch must be received by 10pm next Monday 12th September - via CDF pay (click on link below) Thank you to Mr Tim for his organisation of the Footy Day activities and to Mrs Ladlow, Mrs Glass and Mrs Meunier for their organisation of the Footy Day lunch. It is sure to be a great day!!
NAPLAN - Year 3 and Year 5
Student NAPLAN results will be distributed to Year 3 and Year 5 students tomorrow. At this stage, we do not have access to State or National Level NAPLAN data, so we are unable to determine our students’ achievements at this level. Our analysis of our students’ results at the school level shows very good data in the NAPLAN areas of Reading, Writing, Grammar and Punctuation, Spelling and improving data in the area of Numeracy. It is very pleasing to see our explicit improvement agenda focus of Student Voice and Agency and Planning for Improved Student Learning is having positive impacts in this area of our student data. Congratulations to our Year 3 and Year 5 students, their teachers and ESO support staff on their amazing results!
ASSEMBLY - cancelled tomorrow - Friday 9 September
Just a reminder with our senior students (Years 5 & 6) participating in Sport - Lightning Premiership - tomorrow (Friday 9 September) Assembly will be cancelled. We will celebrate assembly next week as part of our Footy Day celebrations.
Term 3 will finish on Friday 16 September at 3.15pm
Term 4 will begin on Monday 3 October at 8.45 am
Happy Holidays - stay safe
Twenty-Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Cycle C
Sunday, September 11, 2022
Jesus responds to those who criticize him for keeping company with the unworthy.
In next Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus tells three parables, or stories, about something or someone being lost and then found. Being lost can be a confusing experience. Sometimes it can even be frightening. On the other hand, being found or finding our way is a great relief. When we sin, or do something we know is wrong, we turn away from God and feel lost. God never stops loving us. He looks for us when we sin. He rejoices when we return to him and tell him we are sorry. He always forgives us.

Child friendly version of Child Safe Policy (updated June 2022)
Congratulations to our Year 6 Student Leaders on their creation of the student friendly version of the Child Safe Policy. This policy has been uploaded to our website Child Safe page and can be found in the following link https://www.marymacnarre.catholic.edu.au/child-safety-standards
Child Safe Standards and Parent use of Mobile Phones, Privacy Laws
We ask all parents to be mindful of their mobile phone usage, child safety and privacy laws when visiting our school. During such times as morning Prayer time, Mass, Assemblies and school events/gatherings, we ask parents to turn off or put away their mobile phones and to respect the privacy of all students. Photographs and video footage cannot be taken of students without parental permission. Reminders of safe mobile phone usage will be shared with the school community at morning prayer times and assemblies. On special occasions such as student awards at assemblies or student graduations, space will be made available for parents to photograph their child in a child safe way. We thank you for working in partnership with us to respect the privacy of all our students.
